About Mark Wang

Introduction

Hello, my full name is Mark Andrew Yong-Yuan Wang. I was born and raised in Fremont, California (the Bay Area), and I am half white, half Chinese.
I am currently majoring in Aerospace Engineering here at San Diego State University. I chose to study Aerospace because I think that I could do very well in that industry, and also because I love rockets and planes.

As I was born in the U.S. (a primarily English-speaking and writing country for those who didn't know), I learned how to read, write, and speak English from my parents, from my family, and from all of the schools that I have gone to. On top of that, because my Dad is from Hong Kong, my parents also put me into the Mandarin Immersion Program, where I learned Chinese, how to read, speak, and write it. That makes me bilingual, even if barely so!
Reading is actually one of my favorite hobbies and pastimes. My favorite series is probably a book series called Honor Harrington by David Weber (click the link below).

Personally, I don't really like to write. Mainly, this is because I am not all that good at it, but also because I don't like to share that often. Of course, I have plenty of writing experience, having written essays, articles, and reports for my High School classes, as well as for internships and applications.
In this class, I hope to learn how to write in a way that is more captivating, more emotional, and less methodical and dry (my Dad says I write like I am writing an engineering project report for my manager or something).

When I am not reading or in school, you will probably find me watching TV or a movie, browsing YouTube, playing various video games, or participating in sports. In High School, I was on the Track and Field and the boys' Soccer Varsity teams (I wasn't any good; this is just for bragging rights). My favorite video game of all time has to be Call of Duty, not a specific one, although the game that I have played the most recently is Team Fight Tactics.

I have a lot of favorite movies and TV shows, and I will watch anything from Transformers or Star Wars. My favorite YouTube channel to watch is the Sidemen, linked below.
